This timber-framed mill was inspired by the building Im Heppächer 3 in Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, that was built in the 15th century as the guild hall of the tailors guild. I reworked it into a mill to make it more interesting.
The floors are separable. The ground floor houses the mill, which is driven via a few Technic elements by the mill wheel, and a small crane to lift the heavy bags. There is also a cellar room for storing foodstuff.
The first floor holds the miller family's living quarters.
The top floor is unfinished - I was planning to put a fellow's lodging in there, but never got around to it...
I achieved the timber-frame look by attaching plates to modified bricks with studs on the side. Creating the structure that I wanted meant to make the model quite big... however, the original building is also big, I think the model roughly matches minifigure scale.
