This MOC is a model of a Formula One car, based on the West McLaren Mercedes MP4-16 from the 2001 FIA Formula One World-Championship. McLaren Racing finished second overall in the standings respectively behind Ferrari and Michael Schumacher. It was the last car driven by the duo of David Coulthard and double WC Mika Häkkinen, latter retirering at the end of the season.
Adrian Newey's MP4-16 which was powered by a Mercedes V10 engine, managed to win 4 races and qualified twice on pole position throughout the 17 race long season. 6 fastest laps indicated its race pace followed by 13 further podiums.

The model offers some technical functions: manuel steering, tyre change, front wing change, barge-board and mirror positioning, opening the car by taking off the engine cover

Since the construction is built by LEGO bricks, it is necessary to use connectors for inverted plates, e.g. the front wing, for example those by COBI. Two 1x1 sloping bricks on the sides of the upper airbox and the special tube/ pipe directly placed underneath the airbox, need to be cutted. Those parts however do not have to be used.
