Built by the Norris Locomotive Works in 1862 and named after the Railroad's President and Former California Governor Leland Stanford, this was the Central Pacific Railroad's first steam locomotive. No.1 was first used to construct the First Transcontinental Railroad and pulled the first ceremonial passenger train starting in Sacramento, California. Today, the locomotive resides on static display at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento.
