The K-36 is a class of 2-8-2 3 foot narrow gauge steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1925. With a boiler pressure of 125 psi and a tractive effort of 36,200 lbf, the K-36 class is still the primary workhorse on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Today, all ten original K-36s still exist, 8 are operational.
