He was unable to attend the field trip his class took on the day he was bitten by the spider, instead his classmate Gwen Stacy was bit by the spider and became the Ghost-Spider. Once Peter Parker found out about the Ghost-Spider he tried to give himself his own powers so he could get revenge on the Asgardian who killed his Uncle, the serum turned him into the Lizard and Gwen fought him not knowing that he was Peter Parker. Once she beat the beast she realized it was Peter Parker and the Asgaurdian Soldiers thought that she killed a random kid and tried to arrest her, but lucky for her Nick Fury was in town and he saved her in exchange she joined the New Avengers along with Daredevil
