Third model (and certainly last for a while) in my "Inspiring Books" Series.
Captain Alatriste is a character created by spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte.
Plot: after being wounded in battle during the Thirty Years' War, Diego Alatriste is forced to retire from the army. He now lives as a swordsman-for-hire in Madrid, but when he's commissioned to murder two travelers by a member of the Spanish Inquisition he finds himself involved in a plot with implications that will reverberate throughout the courts of Europe...

Main characters, from left to right:
Inigo Balboa: this boy became the 'assistant' of Diego Alatriste after his father died in a trap, in the presence of Alatriste.
Francisco De Quevedo: a master of poetry and Alatriste’s comrade.
Angélica De Alquézar: young laby who works as a personal assistant to the Queen of Spain. She updates Inigo on the happenings in the Spain monarchy.
Captain Diego Alatriste Y Tenorio: he joined the army when he was 13 years and has been there until he can no longer continue to stay after he develops a bad wound. After his retire from the army, he becomes a swordsman.
Gualterio Malatesta: an Italian born swordsman and Alatriste’s nemeses. The two of them will meet several times across Alatriste's adventures.
