It is so great to be able to see the model in 3D now. I was among the first ones to support and made all the LEGO people of my family support it too

@ Scrubs thanks so much!
It would not have been possible without your beautiful website. Hopefully the update on Lego Ideas will bring some new users to MB as well.

Congrats, the model looks great, and the Abbarth version is pure awesome! Would love to see how it looks with it's traditional yellow (cool yellow) or light blue (light royal blue) too. Anyway, congrats to both of you and best of luck with Lego Ideas support.

Wow, I really never noticed some of the creative piece usage here (such as the wrench for a door-handle)! I supported early on, and I'm very pleased to be able to see it here!

(Supporting) Finally here! I'm so happy to see this car in MB, good luck to 10.000 supports!

I checked it out on ideas and supported it... and then I saw the video.
That. Was. Amazing!!!!!! I've watched it multiple times over again! I wish I could make videos like that but I don't think my computer is powerful enough. I did a simple turntable video before and it took 32 hours! (only 200 frames) Just wondering what did you set the sampling at? BTW I really like the renders and model!

Truly Amazing work guys!!! (Supported)

@zanna I have checked your flickr page and your lighting & rendering work is unbelievable (great compositing too).

Any chance you would consider creating a tutorial outlining your process on this piece?

Your lighting and rendering are mind blowing, but I am particularly impressed with and interested in how you do your color and rotation/position offset variation.

@Scrubs Is this all built into the Blender Template?

@Scrubs I'm sure everyone says this, but this is by far the best Lego CAD program and community in existence. This is the future of Lego CAD

THANKS!!!!! Amazing people!!!!

Thanks

You can find some tutorials written by zanna in the forum:
For example this one http://www.mecabricks.com/en/forum/topic/165

Offset variation is currently not included in the exporter of the Blender script. I think that Zanna did it manually.

For colours, you could use the "Random" output of the "Object Info" node.

Thank you so much guys!

If you haven't watched yet, here is the video!

@paulmeyer - You make me blush! ^^ As Scrubs said I wrote only that little tutorial, hope is a good base to start
Tell me if you have any doubt. If I'll have time soon, I'll try to write new ones!

@MalMan35 - Thank you too!!!
Do you know what the secret was? Saabfan and me rendered a lot with our computers, but this free render farm was our savior

If I remember well the samples were 800-1000.

Thanks Guys! Awesome - let me check it out and let you know how it went.

@ zanna - I have seen the vid - pure eyecandy! Hence the compliments!!! Really professional. Some of the Best Lego Rendering I have seen on the interwebs. I have been looking for that candy-apple look that the Lego Movie has done so well and I think you are not far off - super-awesome. BTW can you tell us how you did the offset variations to create the subtle imperfections in the lego brick stacking appearance? Was it manual or a script that you could share?

@ scrubs - thanks for the link and advice - will do and hopefully have something to post soon

@paulmeyer - Thank you
As Scrubs said I manually rotated some parts (unfortunately I'm not a 3D expert and my knowledge is limited) and for the color I just linked a color ramp to the color node, and a random node to it. If is not clear, I'll write a simple tutorial very soon

Thanks so much @paulmeyer.
I totally agree: The model wouldn't be half as good without zanna's renderings.

Thanks again @zanna, I look forward to it, currently working through your other tut - great stuff!!!!

@ saabfan - your model is totally awesome, and of course no one can render what isn't built yet! =) Well done Masterbuilder!!!

Are you sure that's a render?!?
You really should apply for a job as some sort of "senior do-everything lead" with Animal Logic to help them actually figure out that thing called photorealism, Zanna!

(...but then you would have to leave Mecabricks...
)
zanna

Ahahaha you are exaggerating @Qwerty7556 !

I'm less than the 1% of an Animal Logic trainee xD

By the way, I'm so happy you like it guys!

@Qwerty7556 At Animal Logic you get a daily brief to open the scene from the shading department and move the sun a bit more left und up and pass the scene to a render wrangler.

Just saw a few 500's today, then a render shows up... Maybe it's a sign.
Nice job as usual zanna!
