The floor hit me. What?

You wouldn't imagine the confusion on my face...

First, I was speeding through a dark, endless tunnel with D_R and Gav after I invited them over to help out a bit in solving the problem with the Script, a powerful computer program which had wreaked havoc on all of my computer systems, and literally destroyed all of the nearby communities.

Now, I was back in my apartment. Didn't make sense.

At all.

Did we just get sucked up and then fall right back down again or something? I had no clue.

I pretty much felt like I had been hit with one-too-many shots of whiskey, and someone had slugged me in the head with buckshot. But aside from that, I was fine and dandy. I rubbed my eyes and pathetically tried to shake my head to clear the fogginess that was clouding my vision, but to no avail. I'd have to wait it out.

Weighed down by an unexplainable weariness that knocked me out right away, I feel asleep on the floor to a dull but peaceful throbbing coursing through the room.

I suddenly awoke, frightened. A cold sweat covered my arms and most of my body, and I shivered when I looked around. The room had fallen into a cloudy darkness, and I gathered that I must have slept till midnight, noticing that a beautiful, pearly moon was shining intensely through the window. I stared at it a few moments, and it flickered for one second; in that second, the room went completely dark, and I felt a slight wind brush past me. As soon as it had vanished, the moon reappeared again, brighter than ever.

"How strange," I thought. "Must have imagined it."

Then it hit me. Where were D_R and Gav? I smacked myself as I realized I had completely forgotten about them, and in the process, seemed to have lost track of them in my bleariness. "Gav? D_R? You there?"

No answer.

I hastily searched the room, crawling across every square inch of it in the blackness, but I couldn't find them. Panic filled my mind as thoughts of death weighed me down with anxiety, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I almost burst into tears. I was alone. I had no clue where I was, or what had happened to my friends. Something was out there, and I could feel its presence stronger than ever.

~Meanwhile, in New York, NY~

"But c'mon, IB, you gotta let me in on your secret. I've gathered that LW has some sort of thing going on that you need to attend to or something like that, but I mean, you really haven't given me anything to go on. You annoy me sometimes, you know that?"
IB looked down at Snap, and a slight grin cracked through his serious exterior. "It's on a need-to-know basis, my man. If I could tell you, I would, but you'll find out soon enough. Here's the stairs."

SnapStudios and IB were on route to LW's apartment (Yes, I'm narrating this story, but I'm just referring to myself as "LW"), after IB had received an urgent call from him, saying that he needed some technical help, and they seemed like the perfect pair for the job.

At the underground subway, they waited for the train to arrive. IB held his calm attitude, exuding patience, with Snap tagging along, not so patient, to say the least.

"Snap, I just remembered a little tidbit that you might enjoy. MrBrick is coming along, as well. Didn't you both go to middle school together? Now that you're both freshmen, you might quite like to carry on a few intelligent conver---"
"IB, I hate that guy. I mean, he literally stole my look a while back!"
"Indeed."

Truth be told, Snap had actually taken a bit of inspiration from MB's hairstyle and such, but his fiery temper always made his thinking a bit self-driven and he liked to lay the blame on other persons than himself when he was mad. As a friend, though, he was loyal for life. LW and Snap had hit if off a few years back when he was only 11, and the former had been like a big brother to him ever since. That's why Snap was so worried about him - IB had strange look in his eyes; it seemed a mix of fear and determination, he couldn't tell. LW had to be in some kind of trouble...

"The train is here. Shall we depart?" IB asked kindly, as he glanced down at his smaller traveling companion.
"Sure," came the sour voice.
The older one let out a small laugh as the two stepped onto the train, sat down and waited for it to speed away into the gossamer.

~Meanwhile, at a certain apartment~

D_R shook her head. "I have no idea. Maybe he... he died, or something like that." A frown creased her face.
"What I don't understand is what happened to us," Gav said. "It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. He grinned slightly as he thought of LW. "Ya know, this may be something like that Stargate thing LW keeps talking about. Portals and such. Speaking of which, why are we even talking about sci-fi? We haven't even figured out what happened to us, and yet you bring up science fiction. Great."
D_R's laugh was humorless, as she looked up at Gav and sighed. "You'll drive me insane before this is over, you do know that. Let's think this thing out."

D_R and Gav were flying through the blackness beside LW, and one of them caught onto the other's jacket (they couldn't tell which one of them it was, they were so frightened at the moment), and suddenly they hit the floor with a sickening thud, as D_R landed on top of Gav in a tangled heap. They soon discovered that their third flying companion was missing, and quickly accosted their situation, Gav with an intelligent and skilled eye, and D_R with sarcastic vigilance.

"I have no idea what to do. I've tried everything, but the door is locked, and I don't want to damage the windows or anything, 'cause you know LW is pretty particular about those little things," mused D_R.
"There's gotta be another way out, there has to."
The younger irritably shook his head. "Like I said, this has nothing to do with sci-fi, will you please stop?"

I hope you liked it! This story will probably be much, much longer than I had expected, so just bear with me smiling face with open mouth and smiling eyes
It's definitely been a blast writing so far, so I'm looking forward to creating the upcoming chapters.

I have fifteen roles in all, including myself:

Wow! That was so confusingly, awesomely, pestiferously, prone to driving me half insane with wonder and suspense! In other words...

*in a low, slightly British, voice*

That was confusing yet stunningly good! Do any of you users know each other? In person? You make it sound like you do, but that could just be part of the story...

@MB... yes... I found it hilarious... one reason is that I was planning on having you guys squabble over possessing the same hair style in my own story

@Greenflame24 I’m not actually sure. For all we know, one of the other users may go to my church!
Greenflame24

@SnapStudios... or mine!!! Though, knowing the people of my church... there are only a few I would think fit any of you... and then again maybe not... though, perhaps a conference... my Mom speaks at Homeschool conferences, and I think there are a few on here... perhaps some have met, or will meet, there...

First of ALL... thank you so much guys for commenting all these amazing things!!

It made my day!

@Operator011
Thanks! Me too

@HAMMERBORNE
Thank you so much dude! I bet if you gave it a try, you would surpass me in every way

@Greenflame24
Wow, thank you!

Very dramatic comment to go with a very dramatic accent, btw.

No, actually not, I just tried to picture us being friends to make it more realistic. In the story we are great friends, but not IRL. Over the internet, we're the best of buds.

@MrBrick
I'm so glad you liked it! Maybe I should hang it in a museum then... Jk, jk, thank you so much

@IB
That's the luxurious, black, flowing hair kinda dude, man. You should know

Thanks bro! I always appreciate comments from you

@Snap
Yes, I noticed a little while back you and MrBrick had the same hairpieces, so I decided to give that joke a little shot into the story

I was actually picturing IB speaking in a low, deep, serious Teal'c voice, no kidding

If any of you have Snapchat, we should definitely get together an online chat group, even on Discord or something like that. Just all of us, the Armageddon group

We seem to get along pretty well, so yeah
Operator011

That'd be great! I have discord, and LW's on my server.

Though if I Do have a role, can I say "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" and "Bird up!" Would that be ok? Btw i'm doing a spinoff on Corrin, and you're one of the main characters.

Wow! Great chapter LW! I'm very impressed at well.... everything! The dialogue is great, the story is engaging, and you've created interesting characters as well. Everything feels real which draws you into the story. I have to say, you're jolly good at this.

@D_R
That was so nice! Thank you so much for the jolly good comment, it was tickety-boo, indeed.

All of you young'uns, I can get together a Discord server, or you can download Snapchat or sign up for Instagram with your Google account on the computer, and I'll create a GC!

Well, I can help you with that Discord server. My parents don't let me do social media, but they're okay with mecabricks and private discord servers, and since you all are christians, well, they'll be fine with that.

Hey everyone! There's a new guy here, and his name is PokePotter! He hasn't done anything yet, but since I know him in real life, I've been giving him some pointers on how to build! Let's all welcome him to Mecabricks!

"The floor hit me. What?" is my new favorite opening to a story!
(other than: "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." nobody can top that)
Greenflame24
2 months ago
@KofE That is pretty much true... though, if you wanted count in a whole entire introduction, I do think my favorite would be Andrew Petersons, "On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness". That is about as wild as they come. But then again, thats an entire introduction... not an opening sentence.
