Star Wars, Rise of the Empire

Chapter 4

The ship burst out of hyperspace and the green sphere of Ariadu came into sight. "So you think you know where our parents are?" Carl asked Ahsoka. "Yes," she replied. "Think about it, you lived in a small town about 47 kilometers from the capitol city right?" "Right." "So your town is too small to have a prison facility so your parents would have been taken to the closest city with one, which is the capitol." "Right, makes sense when you put it like that." Carl said.

He steered the ship around the planet and started sending it down though the atmosphere. "Where are we going to land?" Jade asked. "I thought we could land by the ravine and hide the ship." Carl said. "I don't want what happened on Argol to happen here." He guided the ship down to the location of the ravine and set it down. They exited the ship and looked over the wind-swept plains. "How are we going to get there?" asked Jade, staring at the grass that spread in all directions. "We walk." Ahsoka said, grinning. Carl groaned, "Uh I was afraid you were going to say that." "It's not that far Carl." Ahsoka replied. They set off
The sun was sinking below the hills when Ahsoka finally called a break. Carl collapsed on the ground and stared at the sky, breathing heavily. "How is . . . it," he gasped, looking at Ahsoka. "That. . .you aren't. . .tired?" "I'm used to this." She said. "Besides, the Force helps doesn't it Jade." "Yep." Jade said sinking to the ground. "We'll get started at first light."
They set off again as the first rays of the sun lit the plains with gold and orange. Several hours later they spotted the capitol city and headed towards it. They camped outside the city and rested until the next day although Carl chafed over the delay. Then they made their way into the city, and stopped outside the Imperial Prison Complex. "What's the plan?" Carl whispered, gazing at the stormtroopers that guarded the entrance. "We sneak in," Ahsoka said. "Disguised as stormtroopers." "What!" Carl exploded. "Quiet Carl!" Jade hissed. "Sorry, but stormtroopers? What will you do Ahsoka? A stormtrooper helmet won't fit you." "I'll be waiting outside and keeping our escape route clear." "But how in the galaxy are you going to get stormtrooper armor?" "Leave that to me. I'll meet you back at camp."
Around 50 minutes later Ahsoka came back with two bundles strapped to her back. "Here," she said. "It's just the armor and the body glove. Put it on." The kids did as they were told. The suit fit Carl fairly well, but Jade felt like the armor was three sizes too big. "You look fine." Carl said, trying to hide his grin. "Maybe a little short for a stormtrooper but I doubt they'll notice." "Don't take any chances in there." Ahsoka said. "Get in, get out, be careful. I'm coming in if anything goes wrong." Infiltrating the prison was easy enough. Ahsoka distracted the guards with an ease that showed she had done this many times before. Carl and Jade slipped inside, showing the identification cards Ahsoka had given them from the previous troopers. "We have to find a central control center." Jade said, as they walked down a dismal grey hallway. "Man I wish we had Beepi with us." Carl said. "He'd find our parents in no time." "Carl, Jade? Are you guys there?" A voice came though their helmets. "Ahsoka!?" Jade said after fumbling to find the comm switch. "Is that you?" "How are you talking to us?" Carl wanted to know. "I tapped into the frequency that your helmets transmit on and linked it to my commlink. I've also made Beepi pull up a map of the prison. I can guide you to the central command center." They twisted and turned though the halls and dodged around stormtroopers until they reached the command center. "Why is it empty?" Jade wondered, instantly on her guard. "Who cares!?" Carl said running up to a panel. "Lets find our parents." "Look in the prison records." Ahsoka's voice said in their helmets. "Good idea." Jade replied. She quickly searched in the records. "Wait," she said, bending to look closer. "I think I found something. Look," as Carl came closer. "Just a few days ago, the same day our parents were taken, two new prisoners arrived here. They are in cell block 95." "What are we waiting for? Lets go!" Carl said. The two 'stormtroopers' half walked, half ran towards the cell block. They reached it without incident and found themselves standing outside a nondescript door with a electronic panel beside it. Carl swiped his ID card but nothing happened. Then Jade tried. "No! It won't work. What are we going to do Jade?" "Here, let me try something." She stood a meter or two from the door and closed her eyes. She stretched out her hand and her fingers made tiny movements as she manipulated the Force around the lock. With a click, the lock sprang open and Carl shoved the door out of the way. He ripped off his helmet and ran inside the dark room and saw two people sitting on a bench at the end. "Carl?" one of the people said, standing up. "Dad? Mum?!" Carl said, his voice threatening to betray his emotion. He dashed forward and hugged them both. "Where is Jade son?" his dad asked. "She's right here! She's a Jedi!" "What?!?" his mum asked. "It's true," Jade said, coming in and pulling off her helmet. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you before I was scared. I was . . . " "It's all right Jade." Her dad said. "It's actually quite amazing. We've been living with a Jedi for three years and never knew it." "Well. I've had a Jedi living not 40 kilometers away and I never knew." A new voice called out. Jade turned in horror to see a Imperial captain and a squad of stormtroopers at the door. "Lock these three up," he said, gesturing to Carl and his parents. "She comes with me." The stormtroopers locked the three of them up and escorted Jade to a small room with a chair in the center. They strapped her in and left. The Captain walked in and gazed at her. "So you are part of that archaic order known as the Jedi?" Jade glared at him defiantly and said nothing. Suddenly a stormtrooper walked in. "Sir, the visitor you were expecting has arrived." "Very good. Send him in." The Captain smiled evilly at Jade and said, "Let's see if you are more cooperative with my guest." A few minutes later a dark figure walked in. "What is it Captain?" He spoke with a low, gravely voice that came from his helmeted face. "A Jed, Master Inquisitor." The Captain said. "Really?" he said. "And she refuses to talk. A most rude little girl." The Captain said. "Well let's see what I can do about that." He extended his arm toward Jade and a horrible pain filled her head. It felt as if hundreds of fingers were prying into her mind. She closed her eyes, trying to ward him off with her feeble resistance. "Jade Ryder, a padawan to Jedi Master Tark." "Get out!" She tried to say, but no words came. She felt as if she was at the edge of a dark cliff and the Inquisitor was pushing her down. With a final push, she slipped.

End of Chapter 4

I hope you liked this chapter, I'm sorry it took so long but I was a bit stuck with what's known as 'Writers Block'. But here it is at last.

Omg, disguising as stormtroopers. If I had a buck for every time they did that in Rebels XD.

Btw, just my opinion, but I think it would have been better to split this up into 3 or so chapters, because, in terms of the models, the transition from Carl running down the hallway to Jade being captured seems a bit awkward. But, not that big of a deal, the writing is what counts, nice job as usual

@XForce198, thanks!

@CalcManProductions, thanks! And, I known disguising as stormtroopers is very unoriginal but in my defence, I was feeling very uninspired.

Wow! That's a lot of writing! The story is great, there was just a typo I noticed where someone said Jed instead of Jedi. Personally I think it was worth the wait!
