I just saw that you have imported this jaw-dropping Executor model by Fox Hound into MB. Nice job. How long did this take? I just sent him a mail on Eurobricks because I like to give it a try with MODO on one of my DELL machines or Alienware 17 with 32 GB RAM.
How to build such a monster in LDD or MLCad is a bit beyond my imagination. It must be extremely time consuming. And even a fast PC slows down at this level of number of bricks.
Thanks, virtualrepublic. For half of the ship (35K pcs) The import/export process in MB is very fast, but it took a while in blender (10 min maybe). All low-res renders took less than 15 min. I guess my notebook can not handle Lego logo or to assemble the complete 71K pcs in blender without simplify process(8GB RAM/ 2GB VRAM only). Looking forward to see your MODO renders soon.
Piece Count: 71,000 (Hollow!) the REAL ship will be in the 90,000 - 120,000 range.
Length: 12 foot 6 inches or 470 studs.
Lights: 2800.
Design Time: 1200 Hrs.
Cost: In the $30,000 range.
Fox Hound offered me to pass me the files but I also bought them by his Ebay link. He deserves the 20 bucks for this insane amount of work. I am now waiting for the files.
