Congrats on the front page! I agree, @LCCS, the only thing I have ever seen up on the front page is the Ratatouille render! (I was kind of getting tired of it)
This is awesome!! It’s so sleek and the greebling details are excellent! Congratulations on getting the front page MB-representation photo! I too have only ever seen the ratatouille photo!
I was looking at the model a little more closely, and i noticed the scale was a lot smaller than i thought. I mean, for this size of a model, @noblebunny, the amount of detail and care is absolutely stunning! I hope you continue to make models as amazing as this!
@Algorithm
You know... I could. It's within the 3K part limit.
I dunno if it would actually go anywhere (getting 10k supporters is non-trivial, and LEGO tends to select/produce existing IPs) - but I suppose I have nothing to lose from tackling it as a "yolo" action.
Im glad you like it noble, its a cone mesh and the texture map was a stripe of blue white and a lighter blue then i used the blend brush to blend it out wards and when applied to a cone it made that effect
As impressive it looks - you just can't rebuild it. I've studied the model for quiet some time now. There are so many bricks not connected to anything. So I presume it would not hold up.
That makes me sad.
As Amy pointed out, this model is partway through a structural refit so I can submit it to Ideas.
Adding true structure consistently doubles the design time of a model (the Vera took ~50 hours to design, and by the time I finally wrap it up, the structural refit will have consumed roughly the same again) - so unless I have some practical incentive to do otherwise, I will always skip structure to save time.
Once the model is visually "complete," there's usually no benefit to going back and spending the extra time fiddling with connections, especially if I'm using non-issued parts (which make it impossible to offer/sell instructions). For the most part, this is all just recreational eye candy, and inspiration for others. Every now and then, though, an exception emerges.
If you'd like this spacecraft to have a shot at becoming a real set, then hit that support button!
Note that the model seen on Ideas differs somewhat from the file seen here on MB (some minor aesthetic tweaks, but major internal structure tweaks). I'll probably make the "refit" file publicly available in a bit - but for the moment, the project awaits! Onwards!
Nice renders, Salkezbu! The polarized contrast makes for a striking effect. I like those front angles especially - really brings out the lines of the model. Cheers!
The V-X Vera is one of the biggest and it's so awesome. For me it's from the main Mecabricks Screen. That i also want to say it's from one of the coolest lego ideas. Flawless.
That render's pretty slick, Skyline! The Vera going for a trial run across the rusty roads of Utah, or perhaps the distant crags of Mars? The amped up dirt effects on the bricks are very atypical for my personal presentation style, but suit the concept of a nitty gritty surface run nicely. Very dynamic!
Nah star wars ships are janky and grey, the only ships in star wars that are this clean are the clone wars Y-wings, naboo starfighters and the millennium falcon back when lando owned it
@Tycer
I experimented with a variety of color schemes for this one, but ultimately the more pragmatic white/black/grey felt like the best fit. The workshop file's open - you can fiddle around with different schemes yourself, if you're feeling the itch.
@Anyone who posted links for advertisement purposes:
Don't you people feel ashamed for recklessly using the attention this model gets (and honestly deserves) for yourself?!
Do you even have any respect or at least consideration of the weeks of work and dedication that go into a model this glorious?
I struggle to find words...
@leatho
I'm guessing most of it's just automated spam bots, which are a known problem on some forums. I'd nuke them myself but I don't have the permissions or tools to do so here.
That said, I have been the target of coordinated hate-stalking campaigns in the past, so I wouldn't put it past some mentally ill internet filth to be doing this intentionally.
Alas, if only they would like the model too! I'd dethrone Ratatouille as the most liked build in no time, KEK
@Peach
Sure, but just know that low-quality renders will probably get removed. You'll need more than just a hard pink background if you want the image to stay up.
