Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy #4017 was one of the 25 Big Boys purchased from ALCO in 1941. They hauled heavy freight trains over famous grades such as Cajon Pass, Sherman Hill and the Wasatch Mountains from 1941 to about 1953. Sadly, by then Union Pacific began to retire it’s big steam locomotives to make way for the newer Gas Turbines, Centennials and diesel locomotives. By 1959, all 25 Big Boys were retired. 17 out of the 25 were scrapped, while the 8 survivors were donated to railroad museums across the United States. Today, #4017 sits on permanent display in the McCormick building at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This model is the biggest model I’ve ever built, and is another model from the Snakebyte.dk website. It took about a week to build, with perfect attention to detail. Please like and comment, because I count on your likes and comments to continue making really cool trains!

Thank you r2d2j2b2. TrainsGalore56 is one of my two other accounts, the only problem is that I forgot my password for that account.
