Doing a Lego stop motion movie would be really great project! But I'm afraid it's hard to do. Not technically, but because it would be extremely time consuming (needs a team?). I've put it on the to do list for the next life.

Nice rendering, btw. I recently watched some tutorial from Andrew Price about making grass in Blender. Another to do...

Regarding stop motion: I found, that the most interesting thing about The Lego Movie is, that it looks like stop motion, but in fact is completely CG (such as parts of The Boxtrolls, that are CG without being obvious).
