The inventory is 99% accurate, actually, and I only substituted a baseplate. Plus, most minifigures and decorations are either missing or replaced.

This set no. 7498 'Police Station' came out in 2011, and it was the third generation of "Police" headquarters in CITY. (And, coincidentally, the eleventh in the "common LEGO System era," see an almost complete Mecabricks timeline below).

Police Stations always had a more substantial presence in LEGO urban themes, updated more often than Fire Stations and especially Hospitals. The 'Police Station' would often become one of the "halo" sets in Town. I'll be damned if there's a single LEGO consumer catalog in the last 40 years that didn't feature some "Police" line-up extensively!

The 2011 season wasn't exception—at over 780 pieces and six minifigures, the 'Police Station' was the second-largest CITY model (only one set no. 3677 'Red Cargo Train' with 830+ parts surpassed it). At the time of the release, it was also one of the most substantial police headquarters in CITY history! (The all-time champion, Raphael Pretesacque's 2008 set no. 7744 'Police Headquarters' with over 950 pieces remains undefeated to this day.)

⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎ VEHICLES
The model includes two automobiles: a Patrol Car cruiser and a slightly upsized Police Van. (It wasn't a proper prisoner transport but would still fit a minifigure lying down in the rear section.) The third, and most hilarious vehicle, was a Bicycle! It's a bit of an Easter egg, given that virtually every other LEGO police station had a more appropriate Motorcycle. (There's even box artwork with one of the criminals stealing this bike and using it as a getaway vehicle).

⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎ POLICE STATION
The building is modular and contains two sections, both packed with features, curious details, and playable items:

◇ PRISON BLOCK
This module stands on a 32x32 road baseplate with two lanes separated by a 2-stud line (part #30225c01 was pretty rare, only appearing in four LEGO sets between 2007 and 2012). Notably, the baseplate didn't have any decals, with a few markings on the sticker sheet.

On the ground floor, there's a two-box garage with rolling gates. (Each gate combines transparent blue and solid black "lamellas;" Neat!).

Outdoor stairs lead to a Prison Block above. Both jail cells had an out-folding section in the wall (where a toilet bowl is), with rainwater drainpipes right outside. How convenient! Two cells lock simultaneously, with a one-piece sliding wall opening up to a shared gallery—excellent design, and quite realistic at that (at least as far as American prisons go).

There are a couple of hilarious security flaws—not to mention secret compartments with a crowbar under the jail cell bunks, of course! For once, the Prison Gallery leads straight inside the Office Building, with an equipment stand on the way. (It would make more sense to have Lattice Doors on each end of the gallery, obviously). There's also no solid wall separating jail cells, just a barely attached 4x6 Lattice, so prisoners can easily exchange items and engage in direct physical contact.

◇ OFFICE BUILDING
A tower-like Office has three floors, all with floor-to-ceiling glass walls in transparent blue. For the most part, the lobby is empty, but it has a rotating chair with a panel of CCTV security displays.

The second floor has an "inmate screening" room, with a photo station for mugshots and a computer desk. Despite a key hanging on the wall, there isn't any locked gate between the office and the prison gallery; quite an Anton Chekhov'esque moment!

The third-floor office is for evidence processing, with two workbenches and a combined Coffeemaker/Water Cooler station. The Police Station has a helipad on the roof, even though no aircraft came with it.

⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎ NEW LEGO DOG
The 'Police Station' featured a brand-new LEGO System land animal—a second-generation dog (part #92586xx introduced in 2011). Modeled after German Shepherds (Alsatians), the new mold was more detailed, with longer triangular ears and printed facial features. Dogs got a new accessory that year, too, a Short Bone (#93160).

With a small Dog Kennel organized in the garage corner, this Police Station was 'K9 Unit' certified!

⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎⚡︎ MINIFIGURES
The set includes six minifigures: three uniformed Police Officers, a Chief (or Detective) wearing a blue shirt with a tie, plus two Criminals. Notably, this model was one of only two CITY "Police" sets to ever feature a female Officer!
