So.

You might have been wondering what this is all about.

Yes, there is something important that has been recently happening to me, and it's bad. REALLY bad.

You see... here's the thing...

I think I'm slowly losing my love for Lego.

I just haven't been as exciting for it when I was younger. I still like it when I get a new set but... I'm not as pumped as I used to be. I don't touch my real bricks as often. I still like Mecabricks, but I just don't know.

Has this happened to anyone before? I really don't want to lose my love for Lego, it means so much to me. I can't leave now. If I do, it could mean the end of me on Mecabricks as you know it.

So please, any kind of advice would be nice.

Have a good one.

Don't worry about it. I have also gone through this, and don't really mind anymore.

Nothing screams "Lego" like smashing every object (and person) on the screen into bricks

1. Play Minecraft!
2. Play with NERF guns!
3. Play LEGO games like CP said!
4. A good way, os doing challenges and trying to build stuff you haven’t before, enter LEGO ideas contest!

Yes, I agree with Phantom_E. LEGO Ideas contests are a lot of fun, and there is one open now!

Well, I think you should take about 3-8 minifigures (or bricks) a day, to school and just fidget around with them in class, TBH I have a lego ruler and a lego pen so, if I forget I still have something!

Also try mix other hobbies with Lego, that keeps things new and fresh!

I lost my love for LEGO at ages 12 through 13, yet when I signed up on LEGO Ideas, I quickly got back in to it. Yet I have to say that buying a new set doesn't get me as excited as it used to get me...

Dang. Ya'll replied fast. Thanks!

TheSpyderBrick: oof, try listening to everyones advice then I hope they help you, i'm sorry.

CalcManProductions: hmm, not a bad idea. I'll see if I can get my hands on one. I have played a bit of "Lego Avengers".
Ph4N70M_3: I love Minecraft! As for Nerf guns, I have a few, but they're kinda ok.
InterBrick: I also like contests, but i'm always kinda lazy to submit any, I've lost my determination to win.
MOCmaster: People make fun of me if I ever bring up Lego. Besides, I'm homeschooled. I used to do that in elem entry school though, when I used to be Public Schooled. And for the other idea, not bad! I'll try it out!
CommanderBrick: Dang, I had no idea. And I gotta admit that I also don't feel that excited when getting a new set.

Well, you get used to people making fun that it just becomes funny and you laugh it off!

I used to be homeschooled, so I can relate. Also, if you can’t be bothered with contests, maybe the Activities could be good. They can be just a few pieces, but they are also quite fun!

oh and what brought me back to lego was watching lego mech builds(i recommend mishima productions and chubybots)

That's tough man, I cant say it happened to me recently, but I used to like Lego back when I was like 7-sh I think, and then I went 5 YEARS with out touching a single Lego brick. (worst years of my life.
) What got me back into it was a Technic set I got for my birthday about 2 years ago. I always thought the functions of the Technic sets were pretty sick. (still do.)
I cant say I can really relate to the whole new set thing. When I was younger, I just had a large box full of parts and I never really got any new ones. And even now when I get new sets like ALL THE TIME, I still get pretty excited about it. One other thing that helped me get back into Lego was a couple of really cool builds I found on YT, I can get you links to some if you want....

Hey, creative build!

Seriously though, I went through this, and then I found LEGO Ideas. Once I decided to give the contests my 1,000,000 percent all, and when I decided that I would learn to use Blender, I got out of the "Dark Ages" and started to like LEGO all over again. Just choose something challenging (I promised myself I would win a contest on Ideas within one year; it has been about half a year and I haven't won yet, but I got fourth last contest I entered!), and stick with it. That is what I did. (And I got bragging rights too....
)

Also, watch the "Top 10 MOCs" on the Brickvault YouTube channel. They are awesome, and were another factor in my coming back to loving LEGO. (And of course watch my YouTube).

Beyond the Brick, JangBricks, GnajBricks, and Brick Experiment Channel are great YTs that helped me too, but they didn't help as much.

I’ve always kinda gone In and out, depending on what I do, but I’m all in building Minecraft LEGO for stop motions!

Rubrickscube: I also really like watching the top 10 MOCs of the week by Brickvault, as well as other LEGO videos. You can get a lot of inspiration!

This is happening to me ALL the time, especially with the newer and not as detailed sets. Don't worry, just keep on building! It helps me to watch a few movies or read a great book to spark my creativity then just go run to my Lego bin. Also, go to The Brothers Brick website, which has some AWESOME techniques, and always gives me a multitude of inspiration. BrickVault YouTube also is pretty fantastic, too.

Ikr Commander? Those videos are awesome! (Plus my TRON bike was featured for like 5 seconds.
) Seriously though, those are some of the best videos on YT for LEGO. The Brick Experiment Channel is also amazingly great, because the guy builds stuff like a working LEGO drone, and a working LEGO submarine and stuff. All RC and fully operational.

Nice Ideas LEGO Wilderness!

You should make a youtube channel and do reviews of mocs and sets, and stop motions, and definetly listen to music while building!

Branch out your Lego hobby into other areas. A good way to do this is to learn how to render in Blender, because learning a program like this is a good skill to have nowadays with a lot of career opportunities. Not only can you develop your lego skills this way, but also learn a useful skill IRL. Once you've rendered bricks in Blender, you can continue to learn it and animate, texture, model, etc.

Of course, I can't really say as I've never yet been through a "dark age". Set yourself a goal. Mine, for instance, was to win a contest on Lego Ideas. Once I did, I upped my goal to winning three. Definitely helps motivation-wise.

And always remember: It's not a bad thing to leave a hobby for a while. More often than not, it just makes you more enthusiastic when you dig back into it a few years later, and often you've learned a thing or two about it since!

Thank you so much, all of you!
I'm happy that ya'll care so much UwU.

@ArmoredBricks: i like your response a lot. I've actually wanted to make some animated lego videos on a YT like Citrine. I just have to get used to blender first, I tried once, and it was hard as heck.
MeinGasBillistTooHigh
Animating in blender actually isn't that hard to learn. In blender I learned everything I know from a mixture of YT tutorials (that's a biggie), looking the problem up (usually find the answer on stack exchange) and trial and error. the last one is really useful when animating, especially for the first time. Though, you need to know the basics of how keyframes work, then you can trial-and-error yourself away with creating good animations
InterBrick
Yeah, I highly recommend learning Blender and rendering and animating LEGO models with it!
-Rubrickscube-
Blender isn't that hard once you get it down. After learning some of the basics for animating (and with a good knowledge of nodes and render settings), you can usually wing everything and teach yourself the rest.

Two words, buddy. Lazy. Bad. And to be honest, this is an MOC website, not a therapy website. Listen, there's a new LEGO Star Wars game coming out, so play that or something I don't care.

Nice idea to sort LEGO by color though! When I last sorted my LEGO parts out (not by color, but by type), I got back into LEGO.

Sry everyone, I just don’t feel right about these kinds of posts. Brickboy, like I always say, do whatever lets you thrive! I just feel weird about posts like these, that’s all!
And to be honest, I love that you’re asking advice from all of your fellow Mecabrickers! Btw happy Valentines Day everyone!

Legurbety is when you get over the age of 13, your imagination starts to slowly drift away.
This is for all things, Dolluberty and Sportsurberty are things too. Its when you like-
loose your intrest, and your mind, like kinda, looses intrest. We're all computer-chair-potatoes (not all of you, no offence to those of your are) that are only intrested in computers.

Thankyou for coming to my TED-Talk

Maybe try putting your LEGO in a tote tucked away somewhere out of sight, and after a month or so, get all of them back out again! Maybe you will be so happy to see them again, you will like LEGO like you used to!
